Wrapped objects of resilience.

“Wrapped objects of resilience” depict urban scenes in a state of limbo, balancing presence and disappearance and highlighting their instability. Paradoxically, however, this imbalance is by no means a sign of weakness; rather, wrapping becomes an inflection point changing our value scale. Wrapping is more than just packaging. It challenges the idea of duration aiming “at truth” and enhances our ability to reconsider what is taken for granted. It does not mean to protect but to expose. “Wrapped objects of resilience have lost their “raison d’être” and acquired a new status by becoming what they are.

As with urban resilience, which questions the value of what has been built and what needs to be undone, “wrapped objects of resilience” are transitional phases that celebrate the legitimacy of impermanence. They invite us to contemplate the fragility of our way of life. And at the same time, they trigger a desire to see what they might look like should we unwrap them.
